Guitar to Mandocello Conversion
I’ve been learning Irish Bouzouki and wanted a deeper sounding instrument to play, so with templates and a new nut for 8 strings by a guy who makes guitar conversions (Mortone Instruments), I dove in and made myself a Mandocello
Six String Samick
No strings
Removed the tuners
Filled in 4 of the holes with wooden plugs
Veneered back
MORTone created Drilling Templates
Drilled more holes
Tested with tuners
Back with tuners
Drilled 4 more peg holes
Made a veneer for the front of the head with a biohazard (cut with my K40 Laser cutter)
Done
